Hay Hotfooters held their inaugural Hay Hill Raiser road race on Sunday 6th September. Perfect running conditions saw the field of 53 set off from the Medical Centre, Forest Road, towards Ffordlas followed by a tough climb up to Hay Bluff. The competitors were rewarded with stunning views of the mountains and a fast downhill section back to the finish line. Back at HQ, after a piece of cake and a souvenir T shirt, Mayor and Head mistress of Hay school, Mrs Fiona Howard, presented the winners prizes.
Overall winner Warren Miles, Worcester AC, completed the course in a very fast 1hr 12.58 setting the challenge for next year. Kim Drinkwater, Gloucester AC, was the winner of the womens race in 1hr 23.21. Hay Hotfooters collecting prizes were Carl Gilmour, a who stormed across the line in 4th place and won the Mens Vet 40+ category and new Hay Hotfooter Lilly Du took third place in the womens race. Also running, club members Dr Peter Horvath-Howard who is training for The London Marathon raising money for Asthma UK and Paul Taylor who finished in 1hr 23.07.
