Fforest fields – Race 1: Sunday October 10th, 2021

Great race and what fabulous weather. A well organised machine by Builth & District and 201 runners in total. Many great performances but just brilliant to be able to race again in a normal group. Thanks to all the volunteers, particularly the race timers using the new electronic timing system. A big responsibility. And thanks also to Fforest Fields campsite for letting us use their fabulous site for the day.

Hello Hotfooters XC Team

Thanks to everyone who turned up to run for our club this Sunday 10th October 2021 at Fforest Fields. This was the first race since 2019, since when the membership, League rules and race courses have been amended as agreed by a Committee comprising of each participating club. There are now only 10 clubs, which are all based in Herefordshire or on/just over the border. Men and women will also now all run the same distance of 5/6 miles on grassy and woodland tracks so no more rocky or very challenging trails.

The revised route at Fforest Fields comprised of 2 laps and was a lovely route, made all the better by it being a beautiful sunny day.

It was great to have 14 people running for Hotfooters, 8 men and 6 women. This included: Sue R, Sara, Ange, Sharon C & Tina; also Joe C, Mick, Stephen, Alan H, John P. We also welcomed new members Eleanor, Kevin, Peter and Johnny. This meant we had 2 men’s and one women’s team.

Congratulations to Eleanor who was 2nd lady overall and first in her age category as was Joe. Sue and Sara were 2nd in their age category and Alan 3rd in his. However everyone ran really well and for such a small club our men’s A team coming 16th out of 27 and our women’s 5th out of 17 is a fantastic achievement. It was also a great day, hopefully enjoyed by all.

Results and team photos are now up on our website. With many thanks to Stephen who has set up a database, collated all the team entries and will be producing all the race results.

Next XC race is at Croft Castle on Sunday 14th November so hope to see lots of you there.

All the best

Captain Tina x
