PEN-Y-FAN (14/7/19) and DIRT RUN 17/8/19)

After the blisters and sore muscles from the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon, Addy and the Gazelle thought that the Queenswood X-Country would be the perfect remedy for their aching legs.

However, as they were still in pain following this, they decided that desperate action was required ie. some gentle running such as the Pen-y- Fan Fell Race.

Shazza, who had been out on the razz the night before was only too keen to join them until she realised the steepness of the descent to the finish.

The website said it was “brutal” and it certainly was. Despite getting to the summit first, the Gazelle was beaten by his daughter who suffered a nasty fall in the process. She now has some excellent scars to prove she is a proper fell runner!

Shazza was smiling like a Cheshire Cat when she crossed the line (this may possibly be poetic license) but all three Hotfooters said they would definitely do it again.

Three days later the Carter Duo headed off for the fourth and last round of the Dirt Run Summer Series. Their legs ached even more but there was no bailing out as both had medal aspirations.

The Gazelle avenged his previous defeat by Addy, narrowly missed out on 3rd overall but came 1st in the MV 50 category.

Addy added more bling to her trophy cabinet by being the 1st Female for the entire series.

They both agreed that some rest and recuperation was much called for!
